Hard spots

1. If trouble is at the wet end, lower the slice at the appropriate positions.
— this is where a basis weight and moisture system is invaluable.
2. Remove air from the affected positions.
3. Check the wet felts.
— dry streaks are hard; wet streaks are soft and compress more.
4. Avoid any temptation to pad the stack.
