Sodium Aluminate

1. Some mills use sodium aluminate for PH control (to reduce total acidity in the system) which can help sizing efficiency, fines and filler retention, and overall sheet strength.
2. Too little active alumina in the system contributes to lower PH, poor sizing, lower first-pass retention, lower strength and a more corrosive environment around the wet end.
3. Excess alumina leads to over-flocculation and may also contribute to foam stability.
