Bursting or cracked rolls

1. Usually caused by excessive tension during roll winding.

2. Cracked edges occur because of greater web thickness at the edges of rolls.
3. Burst rolls are non-recoverable, however, cutting a narrower roll out of the center may salvage cracked edges.
4. Burst rolls may result from uneven caliper or non-uniform spreading.
